The internet is full of different ways of playing Pokemon Go – from web-based trainers, to third party applications for your Android phone. But there are also some great options if you want to play Pokemon Go online.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to play Pokemon Go without having to download anything or do any setup, then the best option is to use the official site. This will give you access to all the latest versions of the game, as well as allowing you to sync Pokemon with your Google account through the browser.
We won’t go into too much detail here – but in short, the official site is an ideal place to be to play Pokemon Go online, because it gives you access to everything that Pokemon Go has to offer. It also means that you can save on downloading any additional apps, so don’t be afraid to check out this page before you start hunting for Pikachu.
How to play Pokemon Go online (using the official website)
Head over to the official Pokemon Go website
Click ‘Log In’ at the top right hand corner
Enter your username and password (you may need to create an account if this is your first time using the service)
Check if your account is connected by clicking on the ‘Connected Accounts’ button
Click ‘Start Game’
Once you have done these things, you should now be able to log into the site and get started!
You will probably find that the site is not very responsive when you first load it up. However, once you have logged in, you can begin the process of syncing Pokemon from your phone to the site.
Before you do this, it’s worth pointing out that Pokemon Go only allows one user to play per session – so make sure that you are signed in with your main account.
To sync Pokemon, click on ‘Sync’ under the ‘Game Info’ section on the left hand side of the screen. You will then see a pop-up window asking you to select which Pokemon you would like to sync.
Selecting the correct Pokémon takes a little bit of experimentation – but after trying a few, you should eventually get it right. As soon as you have selected the Pokémon you wish to sync to your computer, hit ‘Continue’.
Your chosen Pokémon will then appear in the ‘My Pokédex’ section of the site. From here, you can view them and their information, including their level, CP, and more.
If you want to add more details to your Pokémon, such as its nickname, move set, or species, simply click on the small grey arrow next to each item. If you are happy with what you have seen, click ‘Confirm’, and you can continue with the rest of the sync process.
When you are ready to play, just click on ‘Play Now’. The game will then automatically launch in the browser, and you will find yourself in front of a virtual gym. Your initial goal is to catch as many Pokémon as possible in order to increase your strength rating, which is indicated by the number displayed in the lower left hand corner.
As you progress through the game, you will encounter other gyms. To fight them off, head to the ‘Gym Leaderboard’ tab, where you will find a list of all the gyms in the region. Simply select the gym leader you wish to challenge, and then press ‘Battle’ to enter the battle arena.
Pokémon Go uses the same mechanics as regular battles within the app itself, meaning that you will see a team of three monsters battling against a team of three. Once you have battled, you will receive XP based on the outcome of the match.
While this is going on, you will still have to deal with the normal challenges that come with Pokemon Go. For example, you may want to avoid walking past certain areas, so try and stay away from them while battling. When you have defeated all the Pokemon in the area, you will need to start again until you have caught them all.
If you want to buy one, then you can look for the pokemon go account for sale. You can play this game on your Android as well as on iOS devices. Most of the people plan to play it on the phone as it provides convenience. There are so many Pokemon that you can find, and even is one of the most interesting ones because it can evolve in the eight different types.
As you defeat gyms, you can gain access to new items. These include Potions, Revives, TM’s, and even Eggs. While you might not think that this would be useful for catching your favorite Pokemon, they can actually help you along your journey. For example, you could use a Potion to recover HP, or a Revive to restore your health to full.
Eggs work slightly differently. Rather than being beneficial for catching Pokemon, they are used to hatch another type of creature – known as a Charmander Hatchling. You can use any of the eggs you unlock to hatch a Charmander, which you can then transfer to your Charmander via the ‘Transfer’ menu.
Once you have completed the game, you can head back to the ‘My Pokédex’ section to view your catches.
If you are happy with how you performed, you can click on the ‘End Session’ button at the bottom right corner of the screen. Alternatively, you can choose to keep playing if you want to earn additional rewards.
However, we recommend ending the session as this will remove your data from the server – meaning that the next person who plays will have a fresh experience.
Other ways to play Pokemon Go online
There are plenty of other ways to play Pokemon Go online, including the ability to connect directly to the servers from inside the mobile app. There are also several third party sites available that allow you to connect to the servers from your computer, rather than relying on your smartphone.
For example, if you own a Nintendo Switch console, you can use the Pokémon Go Plus accessory to connect to the servers. This will allow you to play the game from your computer, as long as you have a compatible laptop. You can read our guide to getting started with Pokemon Go plus here.
Another option is using the Pokémon GO Plus accessory on your PlayStation 4. This will let you play Pokemon Go from your PS4, although the experience isn’t quite as good as connecting to the servers from your PC.
Finally, if you happen to own an Xbox One S console, you will be able to connect to the servers using Microsoft’s own Remote Play feature. This will allow you to play Pokemon Go from your computer, but you will obviously need an active Xbox Live subscription.
Of course, there are also plenty of other ways to play Pokemon Go online, including using third party applications. We have previously written about some of the best apps available, and you can check out our article on how to play Pokemon Go without downloading any software.
But if you’ve already got these installed on your device, why not take advantage of the fact that you can play Pokemon Go online? Just remember that you won’t be able to sync your Pokemon between devices, so make sure you use the same account on both machines.
