Exploring The Games Of 2020
Here’s a guide to all the big games coming out until the end of the year. All release dates are subject to change at the discretion of the publisher. Some release dates are still vague, so I will give the expected release season for those games.
Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon- July 2 on PS3 and X-Box 360
This is a game for people who enjoy B-movies. It’s about using crazy weapons to blow up giant insects before they can destroy the Earth. Its campy violence and ridiculous plot may not be for everyone.
Dues Ex: Human Revolution- August 23 on PC, PS3 and X-Box 360
The third Dues Ex game is a prequel to the series and tells the story of how a nanite-fueled future comes to be. Its unique gold-and-black-toned art style seeks to set it apart from conventional shooters. But the most exciting feature is the game’s numerous gameplay choices for each situation, allowing players to choose between diplomacy, stealth, or run-and-gun actions.
Gears of War 3- September 30 on X-Box 360
The latest game in the best-selling series aims for bigger and better third-person violence. After its successful beta, the multiplayer is looking more finely-tuned than ever. The series is known for its intense, over-the-top blood and gore and peerless cooperative gameplay.
Rage- October 4 on IPAD, IPhone, MAC, PC, PS3 and X-Box 360
This is the newest shooter from the creators of Doom and Quake. Its futuristic open world is a despotic wasteland overrun by mutants and mercenaries. The game lets you salvage parts to create dozens of unique weapons.
Forza Motorsport 4- October 11 on X-Box 360
The 360’s premiere racing series is back and looking more realistic than ever. The game has Kinect functionality, 16-player online races, and cars from over 80 manufacturers.
Batman: Arkham City- October 18 on PC, PS3, and X-Box 360
The sequel to the best super hero game of all time features an open city game world that is five times as large as the original. Players will take control of the Dark Knight and Catwoman to stop a plethora of villains including Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and the Joker.
Battlefield 3- October 25 on PC, PS3, and X-Box 360
The revered multiplayer first-person shooter is back with an all new engine that allows for more destruction and realistic large-scale battles. Battlefield 3 is also equipped with a lengthy single-player campaign that does more than serve as a training course for the multiplayer.
Uncharted 3: Drakes Deception- November 1 on PS3
Nathan Drake’s adventures continue as he searches for treasure in the Arabian Desert. Drake’s signature platforming and shooting mechanics are set to deliver another blockbuster action game. The refined gaming engine is looking to showcase some of the best graphics on the PS3.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3- November 8 on PC, PS3, X-Box 360
The most popular shooter series of all time returns for its annual outing. Soldiers Soap and Price return to hunt an international terrorist and stop and attack on US soil. But most people will be spending their time gaining ranks and earning perks on the revered multiplayer.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim- November 11 on PC, PS3, and X-Box 360
The role-playing series comes to the fulfillment of the prophecies set up in the previous games as dragons roam the land. Skyrim allows you to pick your race and character type to fight and journey across a massive game world full of dungeons, cities and forests.
Assassin’s Creed Revelations- November 15 on PC, PS3 and X-Box 360
Revelations seeks to tweak the popular multiplayer from the last game while concluding Ezio’s single player adventures. There will be much free-running, stabbing, and sneaking about in the fourth Assassin’s Creed game. Expect a few plot questions answered, but more brought up in anticipation for the inevitable sequel.
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword- Holiday on Wii
Link’s newest adventure takes place before the events of Ocarina of Time in a quest fueled by a magical sword. Players will take control of adult Link, solving puzzles and battling a cadre of classic enemies.
Super Mario- Holiday on 3DS
It’s an all-new Mario game designed from the ground up for the 3D handheld. The game looks to pay homage to many previous Mario games by including the Tanooki suit, Super mushrooms, and flagpoles at the end of levels.
